BAOWU RESOURCES WEST AFRICA: FOOD DONATION CAMPAIGN IN GUINEA FOR RAMADAN 2025

On the occasion of the holy months of Ramadan and Lent, Baowu Resources West Africa (BRWA) officially donated food to vulnerable people in Guinea. The hand-over ceremony was held on Thursday, 20 March 2025, at the Ministry for the Promotion of Women, Childhood and Vulnerable Persons in Conakry, under the chairmanship of Ms Fatoumata Binta Diallo, the ministry’s Chief of Staff.

In total, the company contributed 8.7 tonnes of rice, 8.7 tonnes of sugar and 1,740 litres of vegetable oil. These essential goods are destined for orphans, people living with disabilities and families in precarious situations, identified in partnership with 19 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and the relevant national directorates. By focusing on these vulnerable groups, BRWA aims to provide concrete support to those most in need during this important time of year.

Launched during a period of reflection and sharing for both Muslim and Christian communities, the initiative reflects BRWA’s solidarity at Ramadan and Lent. It fully embodies the company’s social commitment and its desire to promote social cohesion within local communities. By supporting the faithful of both religions simultaneously during their times of fasting and prayer, BRWA helps strengthen coexistence and inter-community assistance in Guinea.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms Fatoumata Binta Diallo praised the initiative on behalf of the ministry: “These supplies will bring welcome relief to people in extreme need. We commend this gesture, which shows genuine concern for the most vulnerable.”

On behalf of the company, Ms Wu Ping , Deputy General Manager of BRWA, emphasised the scope of the solidarity action: “Through this initiative we want to provide practical help to those in need and deepen our close relationship with the country’s social actors,” she said, stressing that the gesture forms part of Baowu’s long-term commitment to Guinean communities. Ms Wu Ping underscored the company’s duty to stand alongside the least privileged, especially during these times of religious fervour that encourage sharing.

Representatives of the 19 beneficiary NGOs and associations present at the ceremony expressed their gratitude and welcomed BRWA’s show of solidarity. All highlighted the positive impact of the donations on the orphans, people with disabilities and vulnerable families they support. The campaign thus stands as a concrete example of the corporate social responsibility promoted by BRWA, illustrating its harmonious integration within its host communities. By working closely with local authorities and civil-society organisations, the company demonstrates its commitment as an engaged partner in community development.

In conclusion, through this initiative BRWA reaffirms its determination to strengthen its humanitarian commitments. The company intends to continue and expand such social actions in the future, true to its values of solidarity, sharing and humanity, in order to contribute sustainably to the well-being of the communities where it operates in Guinea.
